Welcome to Custom Makes. Do you have an idea for that super special gift, but can't find it how you want it? Well, you're in the right place. This is where you will go through a step-by-step guide to what information you need to provide me so I can quote you a time frame and price for your toy.
How it works
Step 1: The look.
You need to get some photos for me. To do this do a Google image search with the word crochet followed by your idea. e.g. Crochet Flowers. Find a photo that is closest to what you want your item to look like. Don't worry about the colours, this is more about the shape and details.
Step 2: Yarn.
Decide what type of yarn you want. I offer three types of yarn which each creates a different look. You can see the yarn samples and results below to help guide your judgment.
Step 3: Colours.
After the yarn section, your find a range of colours associated with each of the yarns. Note down what colours you want for what aspect. The more detail, the better.
Step 4: Size.
The next section will offer a range of sizes and a starting price for each size.
Step 5: The form.
In this section, you will find the form. This is where you put all the information you have gathered. Add your photo, colours, yarn, height and as much detail as you can think of, along with your contact details, and press send.
Step 6: The Wait.
I will then answer this form within 3 days with a time frame and price for the item. If you agree, I will send over an invoice with my PayPal details. A deposit of 20% is require to start the project. The rest is payed upon completion. Note the toy wont be sent untill full pament has been recieved.

Worse Weighted (DK Yarn)
Worse-weighted yarn is a thinner yarn. This is made from 100% Acrylic yarn. It is a soft texture but can be known to fluff quite easily. This yarn is able to be used for any pattern. Note due to its thinness, if you use it on a large product, the price will be high due to the amount of yarn needed.
Plush Yarn (Yummy yarn)
This is the yarn I use on the majority of my products. It's a soft plush yarn that's very nice to cuddle and comes in a range of colours. This is a 100% Polyester yarn. This yarn can be used on all sizes except Keyring. The yellow bear is a small project, the bat and fox are medium projects, and the chicken is a large project.
Large plush Yarn (Toastie)
This yarn is thicker than yummy but has the same softness. Once again, a nice feel to cuddle. It has a limited colour palette, but all the basic colours are available. This is a polyester yarn. This yarn is available in Medium and Large sizes only.
Colours.
Below are colour swatches of all the yarn colours I have for each type of yarn. There are a lot more colours or shades out there if you're not likely these exact colours. If that's the case, just say what kind of shade and colour you were looking for. Please note that for legal reasons, I will have to purchase and fire test any colour not listed below. Height.
Typically, for toys, I offer three sizes. Small, Medium and Large. You can see the difference in the photo. However, you can also have a 4th size, which is keychain size. Note: Keychain size is not guaranteed for all makes.
Keychain: These are around 5cm, not including the keychain. Only available in DK Yarn. Prices start from £5.
Small: These are roughly 8cm to 10cm in size. Not available in large yarn (toastie). These prices start from £10
Medium: These are around 20cm to 25cm in size. They are available in all yarn types. These prices start at £20.
Large: These are 30cm plus in size. They are available in all yarn types, and prices start at £35.

Time Frame
Time frame is a difficult one. It will depend on the number of orders before your order as well as the size of your project. Due to also having to safety test my toys, the delivery is longe
Pricing
Pricing is difficult and I try to do my best to be fair, but this is a business and I need to acount for yarn as well as my time. Yes its more expensive then the standard toy on my site but this is due to safety testing.
Safety testing
All my product are UKCA tested this includes custom makes. Due to this I must make two versions of each toy. One to test and one to send out. This is why the price and time are different as I have to factor this in.
Deposit
I will send the invoice out to you with PayPal details; however, the deposit is not required until I start work on the project. You will be emailed as the time approaches requesting the deposit money. Upon receiving the deposit, I will start work. If the deposit is not received, i will email you with a deadline date of 24 hours. If no payment is received, your order will be skipped, and I will move on to the next order. Payment after the time frame will result in your order being placed to the next convenient time in the order list.
Payment
Upon completion I will send a range of photos to get your approval, should it be how you wanted, then payment is required for me to send the toy. If you dont pay I will keep the toy untill payment has gone through.
Updates
I will try my best to give regular update, however the best way to keep an eye on the project is to use social media. I often post photo and update of my current products across my soical media.
